Lotus 11 – S1 (#227)

This series 1 Lotus 11 was shipped to the USA on the 20th November 1956 onboard the Paraguay and arrived in February 1957, This Le Mans specification car was supplied with FWA climax engine, close ratio gearbox and De Dion suspension. The car came back home to the UK in 2001 and we were lucky enough to track down the previous owner of this Lotus 11 and confirm the cars details.
Riversdale Restoration undertook a complete rebuild of this early Lotus sports racer in conjunction with M A Linder Engineering and the advice of Mike Brotherwood, the chassis was in surprisingly good condition and as many as possible of the original Williams and Pritchard aluminium panels were repaired and reused. The car has been returned to original Lotus 11 specification with Covenrty Climax engine, MGA close ratio gearbox and De-Dion suspension. Victor Thomas of the Historic Lotus Register inspected the car before and after the restoration and the car is now taxed, tested and road registered making it one of only a few Lotus Elevens to be seen on our roads
The car is now complete with HTP papers and we are looking forward to putting a few more track miles on her this summer.
